EduChat Blog

I have spent years gathering resources and creating websites as tools for the curation of my lessons but have never really considered writing a blog. I've read some fabulous blogs on education and the transformative power of providing opportunities for student agency and efficacy and not once did it occur to me that I might have something worth adding to the conversation. However, my recent professional development experiences have taught me that what I consider normal and routine in my classroom, may in fact be of value to others. So here goes.

Blog: Stepping out of the comfort zone

In the last two years I have discovered something new about myself and that has been a revelation. I have always loved teaching but my passion for my vocation has grown incrementally with each of the thirty years I have taught. In the last few years, I have discovered that while I am committed to my students and the opportunity to help them find their authorial voice, problem solving ability, resilience and creativity , I have become equally passionate about helping educators regain their joy in the classroom. This in part comes from my own digital bower bird nature. I am a curious creature and my inquisitive nature means that I am constantly on the look out for approaches to my teaching that might value add to my student's learning. Once I find something that I value and can see the benefits for my learners, I can't help but want to share with other teachers.
